“From your presence let my vindication come! Let your eyes behold the right.” – Psalm 17.2
What a great thought! Reading the rest of this Psalm (written before Jesus!) the psalmist indicates that his vindication comes from God’s presence. He has spent time with the Lord and allowed Him to surround his life. There is nothing in the writer that would cause trouble, but sometimes it is that very trait that causes the most trouble because others don’t understand it. And there is a battle on.
Those set aside for God will be misunderstood. They will be maligned. They will have people come against them.
And those set aside for God often scratch their heads and say “Why?” Why has my friend turned against me? Why has that person been so mean to me? Why am I going through this?
So we check our hearts and our actions through the lense of God. We ‘get into His Presence’ and look to Him to prove our innocence. We look to Him to fight for us. And “from [His] presence” our vindication comes.
He is always with us. His presence is always here and because of Jesus this is even more real than when that Psalm was written as our spirits are now alive to His Spirit and we are inextricably linked to Him.
Practice His presence today. Know his closeness so when vindication is needed (and it will be because Jesus said it would be – John 15.18-21) we don’t even miss a beat because we operate from His presence so His vindication is always with us.
Father, thank you that from your presence comes out vindication. Help us to live in Your Presence. May you, Holy Spirit, make yourself more real to us that the physical realm that we occupy for now. Be blessed by the offering of our lives. In Jesus’ name. So be it.
